Nepal Project: Samsara Ghar

Help change lives in Nepal by providing housing and education to impoverished children

Rotary x Samsara Ghar: Together, we can transform lives and create a brighter future for Nepal’s youth

In partnership with Rotary, Samsara Ghar is creating a safe and nurturing home for vulnerable children in rural Nepal. This initiative provides essential shelter, education, and holistic support, empowering children to break the cycle of poverty and build brighter futures.

What Samsara Ghar Provides

🏠 Safe Shelter: A secure, loving home where children can grow without fear.
📚 Education Access: Schooling and resources to foster learning and creativity.
🍲 Nutrition & Healthcare: Nutritious meals and medical support for healthy development.
🧥 Clothing & Essentials: Daily necessities to ensure comfort and dignity.

The Impact of Rotary’s Support

With Rotary’s commitment, Samsara Ghar is expanding its facilities, including helping furnish a computer lab and library, to create a space where children can dream, learn, and play. The project’s first phase aims to support up to 15 children, with the long-term goal of housing and educating up to 50 children.

The Need for Samsara Ghar

In rural Nepal, many children face severe barriers to education and a brighter future. Families often find themselves trapped in a cycle of poverty, unable to provide for their children. As a result, these children are forced to prioritize their families’ survival over their own education and personal growth. They are frequently required to skip school to help their parents fish for dinner or work in the fields to contribute financially. In such dire circumstances, education becomes a distant afterthought.

Samsara Ghar seeks to challenge this mindset by providing the essential resources that are often out of reach for these children—shelter, nutrition, and education—empowering them to pursue their studies free from the burden of external hardships.

Children from impoverished communities possess the same intelligence and potential as their peers worldwide; the difference lies in the lack of access to opportunities and the undervaluation of education within their communities. Through Samsara Ghar, we aim to restore the belief that education is vital, not only for the children but for the entire local community. This initiative promises to foster transformative change and uplift entire communities for generations to come.

Rotary’s Support

We are submitting a Global Grant Request for $32,000, which will support the development of Samsara Ghar by funding a portion of the computer lab and library and helping provide essential care for our children. The grant will help ensure primary healthcare, along with covering the costs for basic necessities such as nutrition, education, living expenses, and program costs.

While the grant will cover a portion of the program costs, we recognize that it is just the beginning. The total cost to build and sustain Samsara Ghar over the next three years is estimated at $800,000. This amount will fund the development of critical infrastructure, including separate dorms for boys and girls, a clean and safe cafeteria, a library with private study areas, a computer lab, a playground and community spaces—all designed to provide a holistic and supportive environment for the children to grow, learn, and thrive.
